Candor, Courage, & Care ™ (1.0)

Feedback is something we all know we need, most managers try to deliver, and yet, almost every employee will tell you s/he wishes she was getting more. What is it that holds us back from openly sharing and receiving feedback in the workplace? How can we break down those barriers and create true cultures of honest feedback? Join AssembleHR to learn our well-known Candor, Courage, and Care™ Solution and find out how building a culture of #CandorCourageAndCare™ can shift the way people think about feedback and communicate with one another. In this interactive workshop, prepare to laugh, think, work together, and share – that’s what feedback is all about!

Candor, Courage, & Care - Difficult Conversations™ (2.0)

In Candor, Courage, and Care™ 1.0 we introduced the fundamentals of delivering feedback and creating true cultures of honest feedback. We explored what holds us back and learned models to open communication between one another. But what happens when you need to give really difficult feedback? The type of feedback you know someone may take personally, or feedback that will be uncomfortable to deliver? In this session, we take #CandorCourageAndCare™ to a new level and build upon the models used in Candor Courage and Care™ 1.0 to navigate having difficult and productive feedback conversations.

Collaboration with Confidence

Ready, set, collaborate!  Sounds easy, right? Actually, collaboration requires a great deal of effort.  It calls for open communication, clarity, trust, and effective partnership.  It’s more complex than compromise; but when teams demonstrate true collaboration, the results can be outstanding.

Do you know and have all of what it takes to get it done? In this super-charged, fun, and interactive learning experience, we will:

•Define collaboration and discover how it can often be misunderstood.
•Identify barriers to collaboration and potential pitfalls when teams fail to collaborate.
•Learn about our own personal collaboration styles
•Understand the impacts and benefits of building a culture of collaboration
•Discover an effective 4-step method for collaborating with confidence and apply it to an existing project or experience.

Communication Skills

Effective communication skills are a key to life inside and outside of work and they are critical for creating a culture of Candor Courage and CareTM. In this program, we focus on the universal skills we all can and should master to become better communicators. We teach the CAN method of active listening and focus on body language, eye contact, and the role of non-verbal communication. Like our Communications Styles Bootcamp, this program can be done with individuals or intact teams. When done with intact teams we focus on unique opportunities to better improve team communication.

Communication Styles

Research has shown that effective communication leads to productive, successful business teams that have stronger results, more lasting commitments, and better understanding of and connection to one another. In this learning experience, you will each take an online assessment to learn your default communication style.  Then, in a highly interactive breakout experience, you’ll learn about all of the common default styles. By engaging in this experience, learners can become more intentional about needs, expectations, emotions, and “hot spots” for the people in their lives. We will focus on the critical skills for top-notch communication across all styles and give everyone a chance to practice. This program can be done with intact teams or groups of individuals. When done in intact teams, we also facilitate meaningful team examples using the material.

Decision Making with Confidence

One of the biggest issues on teams today is how we make (or struggle to make) decisions! In this course, we learn why it can be hard for teams to make decisions, and then we learn about our own personal decision-making styles. In groups, we teach one another what each style needs in order to be successful, and how each decision-making style adds value to the process. This workshop can be done with intact teams or groups of individuals. When done in intact teams, we also facilitate meaningful team examples using the material.

Learning to Speak Up

Our world has been forever changed by racial injustice, a global pandemic, and a state of constant change. We’re expected to navigate through it all while leading and/or working alongside our teams while finding ourselves in environments of division, challenge, and fear. Teams need to have comfort and competence in approaching discussions. How can leaders build space for discussion that is not debated? How can leaders offer space for respect and listening when there is disagreement? In this program, we will look at the types of issues that can arise in the workplace, uncover what makes them challenging, and then discuss ways for leaders to help facilitate dialogue that will cultivate inclusive environments.

Management 101 for New Managers

Congrats, you're a new manager! Now, what? In this funny and engaging "crash course", we give you the "Cliff's Notes" version of the basics! What are the key qualities of a good leader, and what is your personal leadership style? What are the key differences between managing and coaching, and what are the basic skills to employ for both? How does the manager impact Employee Experience, and why is that important in today's workplace? Learn that here and get started on the right foot!

Motivation for Engagement

This workshop focuses on the true definition of employee engagement and its connection to motivation. In this interactive workshop, we learn about the common myths of motivation, how to better understand the engagement levels on our teams, and how managers can tap into the individual motivators for each person on the team. This workshop gets participants out of their seats, moving around, interacting, and sharing what matters most with our team members and fellow learners.

Networking Narrative

One of the most important things we do is introduce ourselves. Seems simple, but it’s often hard to figure out exactly what to say without feeling stuck, boastful, or regretful of missing the main points in those critical 30 seconds. Whether it is during a Zoom meeting, a networking event, or a job search, we all need to be prepared with our story. Some refer to this as an “elevator pitch”, but at AssembleHR we call it a Networking Narrative. This workshop will provide you with a simple framework, along with tips and tricks to create your own unique Networking Narrative. At the end of this workshop, you will leave prepared and confident to make a connection and leave a lasting impression.

Peak Performance through Prioritization

Does your "to-do" list seem to always be growing? Are you actually too busy to learn how to manage it? Every time you cross something off, it feels like 2 more things get added? Managing our time is often easier said than done. In this workshop, you will be introduced to a time management matrix that helps you not only identify urgent and important tasks but create an action plan for prioritizing them. Participants will leave with the ability to decipher between urgent and important tasks, tips on how to delegate specific tasks, and best practices for deciding what can be eliminated from those pesky to-do lists.

Power of Allyship

In light of recent events and tragedies, many of us want to be allies but not everyone understands exactly how to be one. Being an ally is an action, not an identity; and everyone has the potential to get involved. During our interactive conversation, participants will uncover strengths, fears, and stories that will help to build a path toward stronger allyship in the future. We’ll define the roles, the risks, the rewards, as well as scenarios, scripts, and expectations. Participants will walk away knowing how and when to intervene and will feel empowered to speak up and respond when inequality occurs.

Understanding and Confronting our Unconscious Bias

We all have biases. It’s how our brains are hardwired. But what’s important is how we manage through our bias once we know it exists. In this interactive program, we’ll explore the definition of unconscious bias, microaggressions, the science behind it all, and how truly understanding can help us be conquer our biases. We will approach the hard conversations and put actions behind how to become aware, challenge our assumptions, identify risks to our teams and business and ensure that we are in control of our biases. Graduates of this program often leave our class startled at how much they’ve learned about themselves, how many biases we harbor, and how we can consciously make choices to be inclusive to create a more diverse workplace.
