Leadership Offsites

Change.  It’s just about the only constant these days.

Leaders who “get it” know that in order to manage change and drive a business forward successfully, it’s critical to invest in building trust, authentic relationships, and leadership skills.

They know that healthy teams encounter conflict and that all leaders need to engage in hard conversations.  They recognize that there is no longer a clear line between “work and personal”, and they understand that every individual has natural strengths that can be maximized within a team to make the business stronger.

People-focused leaders build teams that collaborate to accomplish goals, set and understand expectations, and define what is important and motivating. These intentional behaviors impact business productivity, customer satisfaction, and the bottom line.

Our Alignment & Acceleration Offsite journey offers a series of powerful, customized virtual sessions that provide the platform for teams to engage together and experience a change process with success.

Teams can take the 10-part journey over the course of 1-3 years.  Leaders may also select programs from this menu “a la carte” where topics are of critical importance to the team. And every program is customizable to meet the needs of your leadership team.

Executive Team Strengths Discovery Session - 2 Days

Winning teams understand and maximize the natural talents of each individual on the team. The Executive Strengths Discovery Session creates transparent dialogue and offers teams the opportunity to accelerate relationship-building, performance, and open communication.

In this first offsite of our Acceleration & Alignment series, we help teams create the foundation for stronger relationships, mutual appreciation, and more effective communication. We will help the team view themselves through the lens of individuals and as a whole; and appreciate how those dynamics impact the organization, the culture, and the business. We'll ask some hard questions and engage in facilitated dialogue to push through topics that are hard to discuss, but critical to the success of the business. Participants leave the Strengths Discovery session feeling renewed, inspired, and aware of better ways to connect and communicate. It’s a powerful start to aligning a team for success.

Having the Hard Conversations: Managing Conflict - 2 Days

Healthy conflict is 100% natural and helps move teams forward. How we manage the conflict it is what matters. In this interactive virtual offsite program, teams learn about natural conflict, the attributes of conflict situations, the modes of conflict management, and tips on how to most effectively engage in productive conflict at work.

This offsite program includes the world’s best-selling conflict management tool that is backed by science: The Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument. During this program, executives learn about the 5 modes of conflict and how each can be used most effectively. We will explore 8 attributes of conflict situations and how to most strategically select an approach for solution-driven interactions. We then look at default conflict styles and discuss the way in which the team naturally communicates when there are different perspectives, inconsistencies, and even tensions. In a facilitated mix of learning and discussion, this offsite provides the team an opportunity to ask for what is needed and better manage for success. We practice with active conflict in this session, and participants leave recognizing that conflict can be productive, innovative, and useful when managed effectively.

Leadership Skills for Change: The Importance of Communication & Empathy - 1 Day

As leaders, people look to us for compassion, vision, hope, and stability. But where do leaders look in these moments, and how can we stay strong, focused, and productive during constant and continuous challenges?

In an environment where we have all been impacted by a global pandemic, social injustice, and constant change both inside the organization and our personal lives, the role of a leader is truly put to the test and redefined.

In this intimate virtual session, we discuss how to effectively communicate, empathize, and help others navigate during difficult times. In this 2-part session, we will engage in a facilitated open forum about the significant impact of this time period and the changes that each person has experienced. Then, participants will learn about the difference between change and transition, the 3 stages of transition, and leave the session with specific tactics on how to lead others through times of crisis. Leaders leave the session with closer connections and tools on how to guide others through ever-changing times with empathy and continuous communication.

Unlocking the Power of Feedback with #CandorCourageAndCare™ - 3 Hours

Feedback. It is something we know we need, most managers try to deliver, and yet, almost every employee will tell you s/he wishes she was getting more. What is it that holds us back from openly sharing and receiving feedback in the workplace? How can we break down those barriers and create true cultures of honest feedback?

In this interactive virtual program, participants learn how building a culture of #CandorCourageAndCareTM can shift the way people think about and share feedback more openly and effectively with one another. Half-Day Virtual Offsite Experience – The Exec Version

3-hour program: Includes the business case for feedback, an overview of the 3Cs model, FAST feedback, FAST feedback examples, and robust facilitated dialogue with breakout discussions. During the working section, execs discuss barriers and strategies for building a culture of #CandorCourageAndCare™ at your organization. The exec level session includes a PDF learning guide for use in the program and takeaway tips.

This program is also available in a 90-minute All-Hands version for a broader team audience.

Staying on Track: What’s Working & What Needs Work - 2 Days

A “successful team” is a work in progress. Teams are dynamic because human beings are in a constant state of change, especially within changing organization systems. Teams that continue to assess what is working and what needs work are more successful, satisfied, and productive.

In this interactive virtual program, we facilitate a productive discussion about where the team sees acceleration and where the team wants to focus on for continued improvement. It’s a highly engaging program that provides the group with an opportunity to recognize progress made and talk about what is still blocking the team from meeting its maximum potential.

The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team: a 2-session offsite - 2 Days each

Building a functional and cohesive organization requires high levels of courage, commitment, and discipline. Counter to conventional wisdom, the causes of team dysfunction are both identifiable and curable. However, dysfunctions do not disappear easily, and team members need to commit to the team, and commit to making changes in order to have long-term, sustained success and retention. We have dedicated two 2-day virtual offsite programs to this topic, with an expectation that teams will learn, practice, and then return to the topic for more discussion and growth 2-3 months later.
